In the heat of the moment

Timing is everything.

If you attempt to communicate with your teen or anyone for that matter during the heat of the matter, it may simply be a waste of good breath. During a heated conversation, teens, like most anyone else, are triggered by key words that naturally lead them to reaction mode. While they are busy ‘reacting’ to the words you may or not have said (meaning their mind took them to a different place – based on their perception of what was said) you are onto another point that will now be missed all together. Find the ‘right’ time to have a mutually respectful conversation about your concerns, issues and points.
